Flow-Pressure-Finish 流・圧・締

The inspiring Rafael Lovato Jr. (@lovatojrbjj ) often describes his style with those words.

Flow
Pressure
Finish

It’s similar to that 1950’s Kyuzo Mifune idea of Hen and Ou.
It’s similar to Danaher’s 4 steps (or 6 or 8)

But I like the emphasis on pressure.

Pressure is so key to disrupting the opponent, it forces them to be on the defensive, it puts us in charge of the tempo, it makes them use more energy as we have gravity on our side.

Gravity is free energy.

Flow – Pressure – Finish is also a nice three-word concept that makes me think of this foundational concept of Judo (Link to the Kodokan, and to my own translation)
Kuzushi – Tsukuri – Kake
