“The art of nine limbs” is one of the names of Lethwei, aka Burmese bareknuckle fighting, as they have 9 weapons in their arsenal; 2x Hands|Elbows|Feet|Knees = 8 + headbutt = 9.
When we practice Jiu Jitsu, we definitely have uses for those 27 tools mentioned in the picture.
Shin to pin the arm
Ribcage to pin in scarfhold
Hip to hip pinning in side control
Framing with forearms
Blocking a carotid with an upper arm
Shoulder pressure
etc.
Same tools, different uses, and it is fascinating to see our leg sensitivity develop with the years, although our cousins the apes definitely beat us there ^^
I find that some newcomers have some misconceptions there, for example thinking that a frame = hand pushing with a straight elbow. Frames can be made with pretty much any part of your body, hopefully this will resonate with someone. Cheers!
